Man Killed In Possible Gang Shooting In Englewood

CHICAGO (STNG) ― A man with possible gang ties was fatally shot Friday night in the South Side's Englewood neighborhood.

Ricky Grant, of 6936 S. Maplewood Ave., was fatally shot at 2520 W. 63rd St., a spokesman for the Cook County Medical Examiner's office said.

Grant, 36, was pronounced dead at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn at 9:33 p.m., the spokesman said.

About 9 p.m., the man was in a van at the 63rd Street address when an unknown person approached the vehicle on foot and fired multiple shots into the van, police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said.

The man was hit with several bullets.

The shooter then fled the scene, Greer said.

The shooting is believed to be gang-related, but further details were not immediately available.

Wentworth Area detectives are investigating.
