Man Killed In West Side Shooting

CHICAGO (STNG) ― A man was fatally shot while pumping gas at an Austin gas station early Thursday on the West Side.

Devon Taylor, 26, of 3649 W. Douglas Blvd., was shot multiple times at 5150 W. Chicago Ave. and was dead on the scene, said the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

The victim was apparently pumping gas when a dark-colored vehicle approached and a passenger got out and began shooting about 12:20 a.m., police News Affairs said. The passenger then got back into the vehicle, which then fled north on Laramie Avenue.

A Citgo gas station is listed at the location of the shooting.

An autopsy is scheduled for later Thursday.

Grand Central Area detectives are investigating, but nobody is in custody early Thursday.
