Boy Grabbed By Man At Bolingbrook Intersection
BOLINGBROOK, Ill. (Naperville Sun) ―
Authorities in Bolingbrook and Naperville are investigating an incident in which a man reportedly grabbed the arm of an 11-year-old boy Tuesday afternoon.
The boy was attempting to cross the street at about 3:20 p.m. near his bus stop at Paxson and Cleavland drives, near Royce and Lisson roads in Bolingbrook's Heritage Creek neighborhood, police Lt. Ken Teppel said.
The area is served by Naperville School District 203 and is near Ranch View Elementary and Madison Junior High schools, though the boy reportedly is a student at Lincoln Junior High.
A white male in his 40s reportedly grabbed the boy's arm and said, "Don't cross the street here, it's not safe." The boy crossed the street anyway, Teppel said.
Police were called about 8 p.m. Tuesday and interviewed the boy at his home. There was no description of the man's clothing, but he was further described as about 6 feet and 180 pounds with brown hair.
Police are investigating the incident as possible disorderly conduct, and plan to patrol the area after school Wednesday to search for the man.
Late Tuesday, Bolingbrook residents sent e-mails to neighbors and block captains describing the incident as an attempted child abduction, though authorities say it was not an attempted abduction.
One Naperville police supervisor said reports of the incident were "burning up the circuits" Wednesday in the Naperville School District 203 community.
