Man Dies After Fall in Sewer

BELLWOOD, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) ― A west suburban Bellwood man who fell into a sewer in his backyard died from drowning, an autopsy determined Sunday.

Danny T. Howard died when he apparently fell face-first into a sewer in his back yard, according to Bellwood police Chief Richard Blass said, who said the sewer is not city-operated.

Howard, 49, of 335 S. 23rd Ave. in Bellwood was pronounced dead on the scene at 9:16 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Howard died from drowning and his death was ruled accidental, according to an autopsy performed Sunday.
