A Lakeview woman has been charged with stealing more than $850 in merchandise -- including seven pairs of shoes -- from a Magnificent Mile department store Tuesday night on the Near North Side.
Dorota Dziadzio, 37, of 516 W. Briar Pl. is charged with felony retail theft, according to police. She was arrested at 6:40 p.m. Tuesday after the incident at Marshalls at 600 N. Michigan Ave.
Bond was set at $10,000 Thursday and a preliminary hearing was scheduled for Nov. 17 in North Felony Court (Br. 42), according to Cook County State's Attorney's office spokesman Andy Conklin.
Dziadzio was allegedly seen by a store security agent selecting seven pairs of shoes which she hid in a green purse, according to a police report. She allegedly walked out of the store with $850 in merchandise without paying, but was apprehended on the street-level area of the store and the items were returned to store security, the report said.
Dziadzio reportedly has prior convictions for retail theft.
Belmont Area detectives are investigating.
