The stretch of Lake Shore Drive between Irving Park Road and Foster Avenue was severely damaged by potholes last winter. But a project to resurface it has been delayed until an unspecified date later this summer.

A $4.5 million project to resurface the north end of Lake Shore Drive has been delayed, CBS 2 News has learned.
The project was intended to begin in July, but has been postponed until sometime later this summer, Chicago Department of Transportation spokesman Brian Steele said.
Steele could not provide a specific date on which the project will begin, and he was unable to say why the project had been delayed.
When the project is completed, Lake Shore Drive will be resurfaced between Irving Park Road and Foster Avenue.
In April, the state kicked in $4.5 million for the project, which stemmed from a rash of potholes that developed during the harsh winter earlier this year.
The potholes made for driving conditions so horrific that the city decided to keep the speed limit on the Drive at 40, rather than raising it to 45 in the spring as usual.
Crews began repairing the potholes in the early spring.
