Tens of thousands of music fans are heading to Lollapalooza in Grant Park for the second day of the festival.
CBS 2's Pamela Jones reports that for the second day in a row, event promoters are expecting a sell-out crowd at Lollapalooza 2008 and concert goers will be taking extra precautions when it comes to the heat. Some 75,000 people attended yesterday's events.
Organizers say they'll have plenty of water and also misting stations available as the temperatures rise.
Today's weather is expected to give music fans and musicians a bit of a break, but they're still prepared.
Fans will rock to the tunes of more than 120 bands on eight stages as the Lollapalooza festival takes over Grant Park.
"I just see everyone coming together to have a good time, enjoy themselves. Listen to great music," a concert goer said.
"It's pretty much like the modern day Woodstock," another concert goer said. "It's just a great experience. Tons of people and it's a really good time. There's no other place where you can see this many bands for $100-200."
No other place where a crowd this big packed into one venue under a scorching sun and intense humidity. Yesterday's temps pushed past 80 degrees.
"I am really only comfortable at 80 degrees and lower, so this is kind of hot," said Peter Elliot, concert goer. "And I forgot to put on deodorant today."
Some fans are already camped out in Grant Park.
"I got home at about 1 a.m. last night, got a couple of hours of sleep, woke up at 3:30 a.m. and was here by 5 a.m," said concert goer Mary Wilson. "I got water, towels, sunscreen, deodorant and an umbrella."
Mary is from Oak Lawn. She is attending all three days and has her bag packed complete with reading material. And she's got a bit of a wait.
Today's events kick off at 12:30 p.m. and Lupe Fiasco performs at 6:30 p.m.
"Just drink a lot of water and just concentrate on the music," a concert goer said. "That's all you can do, you know?"
Fans say the heat is a small discomfort to endure when you've got music this good.
