Edgar To Announce Decision Friday

CHICAGO (CBS) ― CBS 2 News has learned: former governor Jim Edgar plans to announce tomorrow if he's going to run for his old office.

He says he hasn't decided yet, but it appears the focus is on personal issues.

Edgar is weighing the less stressful, more lucrative life in the private sector against the tempting challenge of another term as the state's chief executive.

Edgar served two-terms in the 1990s, but he's suffered from heart problems. He had bypass surgery in 1994.

Many republican hopefuls have said they'd get out of the race, if Edgar jumps in to challenge Governor Rod Blagojevich.
