Man Plunges 7 Stories, Lands Safely
Police: Garage Broke Man's Fall
CHICAGO (STNG) ―
A garage broke the fall of a man who accidentally fell or jumped from the seventh-floor window of an apartment building in Rogers Park on the Far North Side on Thursday morning.
Police were notified just after 8 a.m. of the incident at 1246 W. Pratt Blvd., according to Rogers Park District Police Capt. Robert Whalen.
"He landed on a garage and that broke his fall,'' Whalen said. After falling on the garage roof, "he rolled off onto the ground."
The man was "arguing" with paramedics on the scene and it was unknown as of early Thursday afternoon if the fall was an accident.
"They don't know whether he fell or jumped,'' the captain said.
The man, of unknown age, was standing when emergency crews got there, according to police News Affairs Officer John Henry.
The Fire Department made one transport -- with trauma -- to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston at 8:07 a.m., according to Fire Media Affairs Assistant Director Eve Rodriguez.
Henry said the man did not suffer life-threatening injuries.
