Man Stabs Wife To Death, Turns Knife On Himself
CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) ―
Police say a man stabbed his wife to death with a carivng knife and then turned the knife on himself in their Little Village home Saturday after she refused to have sex with him.
The couple's 3-month-old child was home at the time of the attack, but was physically unharmed.
Salvador Radilla, of the 3000 block of West 24th Street, was charged late Saturday with first-degree murder, according to police News Affairs Officer David Banks. Court information was not immediately available.
Edubina Radilla was stabbed to death in her home at 3052 W. 24th St., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. Salvador Radilla is the husband of Edubina Radilla, 26, Banks said.
Police were notified of the stabbing about 7:38 a.m., police News Affairs Officer Marcel Bright said. The woman was pronounced dead on the scene at 9:23 a.m. Saturday, the medical examiner's office said.
An autopsy Sunday determined Radilla died of multiple stab and incise wounds and ruled her death a homicide, according to the medical examiner's office.
Radilla reportedly attempted to kill himself after the stabbing, Bright said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital for treatment, Marquette District police Capt. Elias Voulgaris said.
Salvador, 37, used a carving knife to stab his wife after she wouldn't have sex with him. He then used the carving knife on himself and "tried sawing off his left arm," Harrison Area police said.
The man suffered "quite extensive" injuries and remains hospitalized early Monday, Harrison Area police said.
The couple's three-month-old child was there at the time of the attack but was left physically unharmed, police said.
