Customer, Employee Shot At West Side Liquor Store

Police Search For Suspect

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) ― A customer and employee of a West Side food and liquor store were shot after a disturbance erupted inside the establishment in the Lawndale neighborhood Wednesday night.

About 8:15 p.m., an unidentified disturbance started inside a food and liquor store at 3958 W. Arthington St. where a woman in her 30s was shopping, according to a Harrison District police captain.

An employee -- a man in his 20s -- had escorted whoever or whatever was causing the disturbance outside, where someone began firing a gun and the employee and woman were shot, according to the captain.

The woman suffered a gunshot to the right foot and the man had a gunshot wound to the right thigh, according to the captain, who said the victims were taken in good condition to Mount Sinai Hospital.

The assailant was only described as a male wearing dark clothing. The captain said the shooting was related to the disturbance.

Daily Food & Liquor is listed at the Arthington address, but no one answered the phone at 4:30 a.m.

No one was in custody and Harrison Area detectives are investigating.
