Police Use Taser On Suspect In Lincoln Park

Man Was Found With Gun In Car Near Zoo

CHICAGO (CBS) ― What started as a late-night traffic stop near the Lincoln Park Zoo ended with police using a Taser on the driver.

Police stopped a car on Stockton Drive between Fullerton Parkway and Webster Avenue, and when officers asked the man to get out of the car, they spotted a gun inside.

The driver ran away on foot, but officers caught him in the 2300 block of North Lincoln Park West, just a narrow strip of parkland away from where police first pulled the man over.

A Taser was used to subdue the man, and he was arrested on illegal gun possession charges.

The man was hospitalized for observation as a precaution.
