Bond was set Wednesday at $50,000 for a Lincoln Park man who allegedly beat and raped an ex-girlfriend over a 16-hour period at his Near North Side home last weekend.
About 8 p.m. Friday, Robert Allen's ex-girlfriend went to his apartment on the 2100 block of North Sedgwick Street to get some belongings, Cook County State's Attorney's office spokesman Andy Conklin said, citing court records.
Allen, 24, and the woman, 26, had dated for about three-and-a-half months, court records show. The woman is in the United States on a visa and recently earned her Master's degree.
She told police that while she was in Allen's apartment he punched her in the face with a closed fist, threw her to the ground, took her clothes off, choked her and sexually assaulted her.
He also allegedly bound her hands behind her back using "flex cuffs," the police report shows. He sexually assaulted her multiple times, poured alcohol down her throat and at one point, told her he loved her to death while assaulting her, Conklin said, citing court records.
Sometime around noon on Saturday, June 27, the woman was able to convince Allen to let her go, and took a cab to the Near North District police station, court records show. She told police she was raped several times and held her against her will and was transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Allen was taken into custody Tuesday at 7:11 a.m. at the apartment where the attack allegedly occurred, according to the police report. According to court documents, Allen admitted to hitting and choking the woman, Conklin said.
He is was charged with two counts of criminal sexual assault and one count of unlawful restraint. Cook County Circuit Judge Ramon Ocasio III set bond at $500,000 on Wednesday, Conklin said. His next court date is July 8 in Branch 66.
