Health officials in Kane County say new probable cases of H1N1 flu there include a student at Larkin High School in Elgin, and that the school will close through May 7.
Kane County has 11 probable
H1N1 flu cases, including three new cases announced Saturday. They are a 15-year-old and a 22-year-old, both of Elgin, and an 18-month-old who lives in Aurora.
Health Department Executive Director Paul Kuehnert says the goal of the school closure is to protect Larkin High School students, teachers and staff from getting sick.
Health officials encourage students to avoid congregating while their school is closed.
The U.S. Education Department said Friday that more than 430 schools had closed because of H1N1 flu, affecting about 245,000 children in 18 states.
