Lane Bryant Killer's Voice Heard On 911 Call

TINLEY PARK, Ill. (STNG) ― Hoping to get better leads on the gunman who killed five women inside a Tinley Park clothing store early this month, authorities released a new version of the 911 tape Monday night, isolating the killer's voice.

Most of the sample's of the gunman's voice on the grainy 36-second excerpt is hard to understand with only an expletive and "so step up then" being intelligible.

The South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force hopes someone who knows the killer will recognize his voice.

The call to police was made by Lane Bryant manager Rhoda McFarland just before she and four other women were killed and a sixth wounded Feb. 2 in what authorities believe was a botched robbery attempt.

The discovery of McFarland's call is believed to have enraged the gunman, causing him to open fire on the women.
