Police Seek Suspects In 2 Kidnapping Attempts

One Victim Escaped By Stabbing Attacker With Ball Point Pen

CHICAGO (CBS) ― A victim escaped abduction by stabbing her attacker in the neck with a ball point pen.

Police say two men tried to abduct the 18-year-old woman near 400 W. 47th St. around 11:30 p.m. this past Friday, according to a police community alert.

The men were initially parked in a two-door, white panel van. The passenger got out of the vehicle, grabbed the woman from the rear and placed her in a chokehold. He attempted to drag her toward the van, but she thwarted the attack by stabbing the man in the neck with a ballpoint pen and fled the scene, the alert said.

The first offender is described as a 28 to 32-year-old black male, 5-foot-5 to 5-foot-8 with a very dark complexion. He is between 210 to 230 pounds and has black, short braided hair. He was wearing a white t-shirt and black Dickie trousers at the time of the incident and may have a puncture wound on the right side of the neck.

The driver is described as a 30 to 40-year-old black male, who is 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-10 and about 240 to 300 pounds. He has a dark brown complexion and black, short hair. He was wearing a black t-shirt and blue jeans at the time of the attempted abduction, the alert said.

In a separate incident, police say a man tried to pull a 12-year-old boy in a red, four-door pickup truck near Marquette Park.

That incident happened on Aug. 28 around noon, in the 7100 block of South California Avenue. The man asked the boy if he wanted to make some money, prompting the boy to come up to the truck.

The victim was able to escape and call police.

That offender is described as a black male between the ages of 30 and 40, standing 5 feet 6 to 5 feet 10 inches tall, and weighing 240 to 300 pounds. He has a dark brown complexion, short black hair and a gray and black beard. He was wearing a black T-shirt and blue jeans at the time, police said.

Anyone with information in either case is asked to call Wentworth Area detectives at (312) 747-8380.
