Detectives Take Bathtub Where Savio Died

Drew Peterson's 3rd Wife's Death Was Reclassified As Homicide Earlier This Year

BOLINGBROOK, Ill. (CBS) ― Detectives investigating the death of Drew Peterson's third wife, Kathleen Savio, have taken the bathtub in which her body was found in 2004.

Sources confirmed to CBS 2 that the tub was taken from Peterson's former home last week. Will County State's Attorney's office spokesman Chuck Pelkie confirmed that the tub was removed and placed in storage.

Savio was found dead in the dry bathtub weeks before her divorce from Peterson was finalized in 2004. Originally, Savio's death was ruled accidental by the Will County coroner's office, but following an exhumation and new autopsy last year, her death was reclassified as a homicide in March.

Pelkie said the tub will be a key piece of evidence in the prosecution of the case if and when charges are filed.

Savio was Peterson's third wife. His fourth wife, Stacy Peterson, has been missing since October of last year, and Illinois State Police have named him the sole suspect in her disappearance.

Drew Peterson has not been charged with any crime relating to the Savio or Stacy Peterson cases.
