Search For Indiana Toddler To Resume Monday

HOBART, Ind. (CBS) ― Authorities have suspended the search for 2-year-old Jada Justice for Sunday, and plan to resume looking on Monday.

By then, it will be close to a week since the Northwest Indiana toddler disappeared.

Officers have been conducting an exhaustive search for Jada since she was reported missing. But a police representative in Hobart, Ind., told CBS 2 that officers are not searching for Jada on Sunday.

He could not say why the search was suspended on Sunday, or whether police believe Jada is living or dead. He said the search would resume on Monday.

No one of rank or in the detective bureau was available for comment Sunday morning, the Hobart police representative said.

Federal and local investigators did an exhaustive search for Jada Justice on Saturday, but there was still no sign of the missing Northwest Indiana toddler.

According to a relative, Jada disappeared Tuesday night in Gary.

Her mother's cousin was watching her at the time and claims she left Jada in a car while she ran into a gas station store.

When she returned, the car was there, but Jada was gone.

Police have been working with agents from the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives to search for Jada. On Saturday, they spent almost 10 hours scouring woods blocks from the babysitter's home and beyond, but there was no sign of the girl.

Authorities have offered a cash reward to help find Jada.

Anyone with information is asked to call 1-800-CALL-FBI, or Gary police Cmdr. Anthony Titus at (219) 881-1237, (219) 881-1229, (219) 881-1209 or (219) 881-1210.
