Chicago Police
A Far South Side man has been charged with setting home to the back porch of the home he shared with his girlfriend early Saturday.
Authorities have charged Michael Cattron, 40, with felony aggravated arson.
Police said a witness told them he saw Cattron pour a flammable substance on the rear porch stairs of his own home in the 10900 block of South Indiana Avenue and light it ablaze with a piece of paper.
At the time, police said, officers were already in the area on a domestic disturbance call, and they found Cattron near the home upon arriving.
A witness said Cattron was the person he saw light the fire, and he was arrested on the spot, police said.
Firefighters put out the fire, which was contained to the rear stairs, police said.
Police could not provide bond information for Cattron Saturday afternoon.
