2 Shot Dead In Humboldt Park
CHICAGO (STNG) ―
Two men were slain early Tuesday outside one of their homes in a shooting in the West Side's Humboldt Park neighborhood.
Henry Garcia, 25, of 1319 N. Homan Ave., and Luis Ortiz, 29, of 3349 W. Potomac Ave., suffered fatal gunshot wounds at 3349 W. Potomac Ave., according to a spokesman for the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
Both men were dead on the scene after being shot while sitting in a vehicle about 12:11 a.m. in the 3300 block of West Potomac Avenue, according to police News Affairs Officer John Henry.
The 29-year-old man suffered multiple gunshot wounds while the 25-year-old man was shot in the leg, Henry said.
Ortiz was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital at 12:44 a.m. Tuesday. Garcia was pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital of Cook County at 1:58 a.m., the medical examiner's office spokesman said.
The two men were apparently in a parked vehicle when an unknown gunman began firing shots, Henry said.
Grand Central Area detectives are investigating but no one was in custody later Tuesday morning.
