Humboldt Park Fire Displaces At Least 10 People
CHICAGO (STNG) ―
A fire that spread through a Humboldt Park apartment building displaced at least ten people Wednesday night. One firefighter suffered minor injuries.
The fire started about 7:15 p.m. in a three-story building with a restaurant on the first floor and apartments above at 2429 W. Division St., according a Fire Media Affairs spokesman.
El Paisano Tacos is located at the Division Street address, according to a Web listing.
The fire was burning on both the second and third floors but occupants were able to leave on their own, fire officials said.
"About a dozen" people were displaced from the blaze, and the city's Department of Human Services was on the scene to assist those affected. A still-and-box alarm was called for the fire.
One firefighter was taken to Saint Mary of Nazareth Hospital Center with "minor" injuries.
The fire was extinguished by 7:35 p.m.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
