Police Hold Suspects After Hostage Situation
CARPENTERSVILLE (STNG) ―
Three men were in police custody for questioning following a possible hostage situation early Thursday morning in northwest suburban Carpentersville.
About 2:30 a.m. Thursday, Carpentersville police responded to a report of shots fired in the Fox View Apartment Complex at 3 Oxford Dr. Officers responded to the scene and attempted to locate offenders or victims.
About five minutes later, a call was received from a woman who reported there was a man in her apartment with a gun, and that she and her children were not free to leave, the release said.
Police surrounded the apartment and attempted to make contact with the people inside, the release said. Officers were able to make entry into and secure the apartment at about 4:30 am.
Three men in the apartment were initially taken into custody for questioning, the release said. No arrests had been made as of 11:30 a.m. Thursday.
The woman and two children were found in the apartment, the release said. No injuries were reported.
A search warrant was obtained for the apartment and three handguns were found, the release said.
Carpentersville police continue to investigate.
