West Side Woman Killed In Hit-And-Run
CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) ―
A 25-year-old woman was fatally struck by two vehicles in a hit-and-run Saturday night on the West Side.
A Ford SUV made two U-turns in the 4600 block of West Madison Street about 9:15 p.m. before striking the woman and causing her to be thrown into oncoming traffic, police News Affairs Officer Laura Kubiak said.
The SUV was headed east on Madison Street, made a U-turn heading west, before making a second U-turn heading east again when the SUV struck the woman, Kubiak said. The impact of the SUV caused her to be thrown into oncoming traffic where she was struck by a second vehicle which remained on the scene.
Tanika Coleman, of 4226 W. Adams St., was pronounced dead at the Stein Institute at 12:48 a.m., a spokesman for the Cook County Medical Examiner's office said.
The driver of the SUV was described as a black male between 28 to 30 years old, Kubiak said. He was not in custody as of Sunday morning.
Police say the SUV is possibly white and has front end damage.
The police Major Accident Investigation Unit is handling the case.
