A woman who collapsed in a dollar store parking lot Thursday afternoon was fatally stabbed and her death has been ruled a homicide, authorities said.
About 1:30 p.m. Thursday, police responded to the Dollar Plus at 5662 Arlington Drive East to reports of a woman who was incapacitated, according to Hanover Park Deputy Police Chief David Webb.
Vatisla Thakkar, 56, of Hanover Park was pronounced dead at St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates at 2:21 p.m., the Cook County Medical Examiner's office said.
A Friday autopsy determined Thakkar suffered multiple stab wounds and her death was ruled a homicide, according to the medical examiner's office.
The woman had a history of medical problems and there were no visible signs of trauma to her body, according to authorities, who said her collapse in the parking lot was witnessed by shoppers.
