Man Shot By Police On South Side

CHICAGO (STNG) ― Investigators are on the scene of a shooting involving police in the South Side's Hamilton Park neighborhood early Thursday.

About 4:50 a.m., a shooting occurred in the 7600 block of South Halsted Street, according to police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer.

Police fired shots, and the "offender" was shot in the leg, Greer said.

Preliminary reports indicate the person shot was transported to St. Bernard Hospital in good condition, Greer said.

No further information was available as of 5:30 a.m.

The Independent Police Review Authority is investigating the shooting.
