CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) ―
Two 19-year-old men were shot -- one fatally -- during a robbery Friday night in the South Side's Park Manor neighborhood.
Emergency crews responded to a shooting at 7100 S. King Dr. about 10:28 p.m., according to Fire Media Affairs Asst. Director Eve Rodriguez said.
Two 19-year-olds were shot at that location, according to police.
One was dead on the scene with a gunshot wound to the face, according to police News Affairs Officer David Banks. The victim was identified as Marshaun Melchor, of 7056 S. Eberhart Ave., according to a spokesman for the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. Melchor was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:35 a.m.
The other victim was taken in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Rodriguez said. That man suffered a gunshot wound to the chest, Banks said.
The shooting was a robbery and it appears the people involved were playing a dice game, according to Calumet Area detectives.
No one was in custody for the shooting as of 6 p.m. Saturday.
Calumet Area detectives are investigating.
