Man Impersonates Federal Agent Outside Goodman
Laurence Bradley Jailed On Felony Charges
CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) ―
A Hyde Park neighborhood man who was approaching patrons entering the Goodman Theatre was arrested after he told police he was a federal agent in the Loop Friday night.
Laurence Bradley, 46, of 5123 S. Kimbark Ave., was charged with impersonation of a peace officer, according to police. The felony charge was approved at 11:47 p.m. Friday.
Bradley was booked into Cook County Jail Saturday after being ordered held on $15,000 bond, according to an online inmate search on the Cook County Sheriff's Web site. The site spelled his first name Lawrence.
Bradley was arrested at 7:57 p.m. at 170 N. Dearborn St. after he was seen approaching patrons enter the Goodman Theatre, according to a police report.
When police responded to the Dearborn Street address a Chicago Police officer asked Bradley what he was doing. Bradley allegedly displayed a badge from underneath his jacket and allegedly said to an officer, "You better watch your job,'' according to the report.
The officer asked him to stop and he refused. A short foot chase ensued and when the police caught up to him, Bradley allegedly said, "Get out of my way; I'm a federal agent,'' the report said.
Officers repeatedly asked for his credentials but he refused. He was placed into custody and found to be wearing a security badge around his neck.
Bradley is scheduled to appear in court Nov. 30 in North Felony Court (Br. 42), 2452 W. Belmont.
