A new billboard in River North asks the question "Are You Good without God?" and goes on to point out that "millions are."
The billboard, which stands at Grand Avenue and LaSalle Street, is from the Chicago Coalition of Reason, a group of organizations which, in their words, "celebrates a human-centered and naturalistic approach to life."
The Chicago Tribune reported the group put up the billboard to break the stereotype that atheists are evil, and the discrimination that results from that attitude.
The campaign is meant to encourage atheists and agnostics to speak about their beliefs.
The nine groups that make up
the Chicago Coalition of Reason are the Humanists of West Suburban Chicagoland, the Center for Inquiry/Chicago, the Secular Students Association of Elmhurst College, the Kol Hadash humanistic Jewish congregation, Americans United for Separation of Church and State, the North Suburban Freethinkers Meetup, Chicago Secular Singles, the North Suburban Chicago Atheist Meetup Group, Wheaton Atheists, and Chicago Brights.
