2 Cats Perish In Glencoe House Fire
Fire Breaks Out In House On Green Bay Road
GLENCOE, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) ―
Firefighters rescued two people and two dogs from a house fire in north suburban Glencoe early Friday.
Firefighters were unable to rescue two cats that were trapped inside the home.
Glencoe firefighters responded to 1182 Green Bay Rd. about 2 a.m. and found two people on the first floor of the ranch house, according to a release from the Village of Glencoe.
Firefighters entered the home and were able to rescue the two people trapped on the first floor, the release said. The man and woman were rescued through a first floor bedroom window.
They were both taken to Highland Park Hospital, but their medical conditions were not immediately available.
Two dogs were rescued from the home, one was taken to a 24-hour emergency vet clinic for smoke inhalation, and another dog was taken to the Glencoe Public Safety Building for safekeeping, the release said.
Following the rescues firefighters made a forcible entry into the home and found heavy fire conditions. The fire was extinguished but there was heavy damage to the basement and first floor.
Fire investigators remain on the scene early Friday.
The villages of Highland Park, Highwood, Northbrook, Northfield, Wilmette, Winnetka and Evanston all assisted Glencoe in the fire.
