11-Year-Old Killed By Jeep

DES PLAINES, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) ― A 11-year-old girl was fatally struck walking in northwest suburban Des Plaines Tuesday afternoon.

The girl was walking east across River Road and Oakwood Avenue just after 3:20 p.m. when a southbound Jeep Grand Cherokee struck her, according to Des Plaines police. The Grand Cherokee was in the right traffic lane when it struck the girl.

Alexis Porreca, of 1604 E. Walnut Ave. in Des Plaines, was pronounced dead at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge at 3:44 p.m., a Cook County Medical Examiner's office spokesman said.

No citations have been issued as of 9:30 p.m.
