Man Mugged, Beaten At Fullerton 'L' Stop

PlayStation, Cell Phone Taken

CHICAGO (STNG) ― Charges are pending for three males suspected of beating and robbing a man and taking his PlayStation at the CTA Fullerton L stop near the DePaul University Campus early Friday.

The man, in his early 20s, was attacked by three males about 2:45 a.m. at the Fullerton elevated stop in Lincoln Park. The three, who were not armed, beat the victim with their fists about the head and body, and took his PlayStation and cell phone, according to Near North District Police Sgt. Shawn Joyce.

Police caught up with the three at the very inbound stop, which is the North/Clybourn station in the subway, according to the sergeant, who did not know if the victim was a DePaul student.

One person was transported from 943 W. Fullerton Ave. with non-life-threatening injuries to Lincoln Park Hospital, according to Fire Media Affairs spokesman Richard Rosado, who said paramedics responded at 2:45 a.m.

Late Friday morning, robbery and possibly aggravated battery charges were pending against the three, the sergeant said.
