Francis W. Parker School in the Lincoln Park neighborhood has canceled classes and a school-wide event on Friday because of a flu outbreak.
The school says the annual "County Fair" event is off, and school will be canceled altogether for the day, after about 100 students in the upper grades contracted the flu.
So far, they have not determined if any children have the H1N1 virus, but school officials said they decided to close for the day as a precaution.
Classes resume Tuesday following the Columbus Day holiday.
Francis Parker, 330 W. Webster Ave., has classes for children from kindergarten through 12th grade.
Also shuttered is Naperville North High School,
where a student died unexpectedly Thursday morning. The student reportedly suffered from flu-like symptoms, but doctors say a genetic defect with an artery could be to blame.
