Ex-Firefighter Gets 18 Years For Molesting Girls
Stephen Panchesin Admitted To Abusing 5-Year-Old And 7-Year-Old Family Members
CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) ―
A former veteran Chicago fireman has been sentenced to 18 years in prison after pleading guilty to molesting two young family members.
Stephen Panchesin, 56, was sentenced on Tuesday after pleading guilty to two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, according to a Cook County State's Attorney's office release. The assaults happened in 1998 and the victims were female family members, ages five and seven.
Panchesin was sentenced to nine years on each count to be served consecutively.
According to prosecutors, from July 1998 through August 1998, Panchesin sexually assaulted the victims while he was babysitting for them. He was charged for the crimes in 2007 after the younger victim, who was then 14, disclosed the sexual assault.
Panchesin was an employee of the Chicago Fire Deptartment for 32 years before resigning after he was charged.
