Man Shot Dead On South Side Street

CHICAGO (STNG) ― A 25-year-old man was found shot to death early Saturday on the South Side.

The shooting happened about 3:25 a.m. in the 7500 block of South Wabash Avenue, police News Affairs Officer David Banks said.

The victim, identified as Michael Phipps, of 9146 S. Clyde Ave., was pronounced dead at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, at 4:14 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Calumet Area detectives are investigating.

In a separate incident, a 32-year-old man was shot late Friday in a drive-by on the West Side.

A black Mazda approached the man in the 1800 block of South Oakley Avenue just before 10 p.m. and an occupant fired a shots, according to police News Affairs Office David Banks, citing preliminary information.

The man was shot in the leg and taken in good condition to Mount Sinai Hospital.

Harrison Area detectives are investigating.
