Father, Son Appear In Court In Factory Murder

$5 Million Bond For Filberto Flores, No Bond For Son Ermilo, In Murder Of Santos Rivera

CHICAGO (STNG) ― Bond has been set at $5 million for a man charged in the fatal shooting of a 28-year-old father of three at a West Side factory Wednesday. The man's 22-year-old son, also charged in the murder, was ordered held without bond.

Ermilo Flores, 22, of the 2500 block of West Palmer Street, was charged with first-degree murder early Saturday. His father, 49-year-old Filberto Flores, of the 3400 block of South Tripp Avenue, is also charged with first-degree murder, police News Affairs said.

Cook County Judge Adam Bourgeois ordered Ermilo Flores held without bond and ordered his father, Filberto Flores, held on $5 million bond Saturday afternoon.

Santos Rivera, a married father of three, was shot just before 2 p.m. Wednesday at O&G Spring & Wire Form Specialty Company at 4500 W. Division. Rivera's family says Rivera and another employee quarreled sometime earlier that day.

Police, who said Rivera was shot inside the business, could not confirm the family's account. He was shot once in the head, police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said.

Rivera, 28, of 2242 N. Laramie Ave., was pronounced dead on the scene at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, according to a spokesman for the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Both Ermilo Flores and Filberto Flores are scheduled to appear in Violence Court (Br. 66) at the Cook County Criminal Courthouse, 2600 S. California Ave., on May 6 for a preliminary hearing.
