Fire Destroys Burnside Neighborhood House

CHICAGO (CBS) ― A fire early Tuesday left a house in ruins in the South Side's Burnside neighborhood, but caused no injuries.

The fire broke out just before 5 a.m. in an ordinary-construction house at 9241 S. Ellis Ave. It burned most severely in a gable area in the middle of the roof, which was an addition to the house.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze by around 6 a.m., but the house was left in ruins.

The cause and origin of the fire were under investigation Tuesday morning.
