Man Indicted In June Rape, Murder Of Elderly Woman

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) ― The 25-year-old man accused of the fatal bludgeoning of a 71-year-old woman and her dog last month in her South Shore basement was indicted Thursday.

Danelo Solis of the 3400 block of West 37th Place was formally charged with seven counts of first-degree murder, four counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault and one count of aggravated cruelty to animals, according to Cook County State's Attorney's office spokesman Andy Conklin.

Solis, 25, is accused of raping and murdering Dorothy Taylor Brown, who was discovered bludgeoned and strangled to death with her poodle Frisky on June 16 in the 7200 block of South Coles Avenue, police said.

Authorities were alerted to the woman and her animal, both of whom were struck with a blunt object and lying unresponsive on the floor in the basement of an apartment building, police News Affairs Director Monique Bond said.

Solis will be arraigned on July 21, Conklin said.
