Woman Stabs Husband For 'Inviting People Over'

Bond has been set Monday for a woman who called police after allegedly stabbing her 70-year-old husband multiple times with a kitchen knife while he was sleeping late Saturday in their West Side home.
Rovenne Barnes, 51, is accused in the domestic-related homicide after stabbing a man multiple times in the 100 block of South Campbell Avenue, according to a release from police New Affairs.

Alexander Barnes, of 150 S. Campbell Ave., was pronounced dead at the Stein Institute at 4:30 a.m. Sunday, the Cook County Medical Examiner's office said.
Prosecutors claim Rovenne Barnes went into the kitchen and got a knife from a drawer and stabbed her husband. After stabbing him, she then washed the knife, changed her clothing and then called 911, Simonton said, citing court records.
Rovenne Barnes called police just before midnight Sunday and said she just stabbed her husband and thought he was dead. Upon arrival, police found the man in his bed with multiple stab wounds from a large kitchen knife, police said.
Rovenne Barnes told police over the phone she stabbed her husband because "he keeps inviting people over in the apartment and she wasn't going to take it anymore," police said.
They were the only two people in the apartment and the woman "took quite a bit of time cleaning the place up," before calling police, according to police.
She is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on Jan. 11, Simonton said.
