Gunman Not Identified
CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) ―
A man shot Monday morning during a botched robbery in the Edgewater neighborhood is paralyzed from the chest down, police said.
Police responded to a 911 at 1109 W. Ardmore Ave. about 4:45 a.m. and found a man shot, according to a Lincoln District police sergeant.
The man was riding a bicycle when a gunman shot him once in the left shoulder during a robbery. The bullet traveled to his spinal column and paralyzed him from the chest down, according to the sergeant, who said the man did not have anything to take.
The man remained hospitalized Wednesday at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.
Initially, police News Affairs Officer Daniel O'Brien said his exact condition at Masonic was unknown, but described the victim as "stable."
A description of the shooter was not available.
