Drug Deal Gone Bad Lands Cary Man In Jail
CARY, Ill. (Sun-Times Media Wire) ―
A drug deal gone bad has put a northwest suburban man behind bars facing armed robbery charges, according to police.
McHenry County Sheriff's deputies responded during the early morning hours of June 26 to reports of an armed robbery at 2709 Crystal Lake Ave. in an unincorporated area near Cary, according to a Wednesday release from the sheriff's office.
Witness accounts and evidence collected from the scene led investigators to determine that what started out as a drug deal went bad when Erick Blanco of Cary pulled a gun and attempted to steal cash and marijuana, the release said.
Blanco was arrested this week and charged with attempted aggravated robbery, a Class 1 felony, and criminal damage to property, a Class A misdemeanor, the release said.
He was being held in the McHenry County Jail on $40,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court July 17, the release said.
