Man Killed In West Side Drive-By Shooting
CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) ―
A 32-year-old man was fatally wounded in a drive-by shooting on the West Side Saturday night.
The shooting happened about 10:30 p.m. at 312 S. Whipple St. The victim, identified as Lawaide Labon, of 1135 S. Independence Blvd., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office, was shot by someone from a passing vehicle, according to police News Affairs Officer David Banks, citing preliminary information. Labon suffered a gunshot wound to the back, police said.
Labon was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:01 a.m., according to the medical examiner's office.
Harrison Area detectives are investigating.
