Savio Family: New Finding Gives Peace

BOLINGBROOK, Ill. (CBS) ― As Drew Peterson continues to face mounting scrutiny, the family of his third wife is reacting to the results of an autopsy that casts more doubt on the circumstances surrounding her death.

Speaking to reporters outside his Bolingbrook home Saturday night, Drew Peterson said he's coping with his situation.

"I'm just ready for anything that may come," he said. "So I'm just working through the days. I'm doing fine. I'm just, uh, I lost 30 pounds. Jenny Craig has got nothing on me 'cause I lost 30 pounds through this ordeal, you know, it's very nerve-wracking."

Peterson came back home Saturday night to find dozens of signs by his front door. The signs were left by the families of his third and second wives after a march from the home of Kathleen Savio to that of Stacy Peterson. They had searched for Stacy Peterson earlier in the day in a grassy area near Weber Road in Bolingbrook.

"I miss you Stacy. And I'm not giving up. I'm gonna bring you home," said Stacy's sister Cassandra Cales.

Peterson said all the media attention on the case is affecting his children deeply.

"The older two, it's kind of a little harder on them," he said. "They've got to go to school and, you know, deal with this type of thing. At that age, people like to tease and talk to them. So it's very taxing on everybody."

He refused to answer questions about the disappearance of Stacy Peterson, but implied the independent forensic pathologist that took a look at the exhumed body of Kathleen Savio had an agenda.

"If you look at all the news clippings and everything that's been said by Mr. Baden before he even came out here, I mean, make your own conclusions," Peterson said.

Sunday, Savio's father and brother say Saturday's findings are not different from the first coroner's report, even though a coroner's jury concluded her death was accidental.

"It's actually the same thing they found on the first coroner so that's why we say 'why does it bother him'…it just doesn't make sense," said Henry Savio, father of Kathleen Savio.

Savio's brother, Nick, says just having one person back up his family's belief that his sister was murdered brings them peace.

"It's a lot of closure for us but real closure would be for whoever did this to be brought to justice," said Nick Savio.

The former Bolingbrook sergeant appeared on national television this week, but Saturday evening, he said he's tired of the constant media presence outside his home.

"I offered you guys donuts the other day and you said no to my donuts. I was kind of offended," Peterson said.

The Joliet Herald News reports police are talking to Scott Rosetto, a Shorewood man who police say might have been romantically involved with Stacy Peterson.

Neighbors in Shorewood say Rosetto is not involved with Stacy Peterson and that they have never seen her in the area.

They have seen Illinois State Police looking for Stacy. Neighbors tell CBS 2 officers were in Shorewood Saturday asking about Peterson and asking if they had ever seen a GMC Yukon in Rosetto's driveway.

"A detective was out here yesterday morning asking if we had seen anything on or about Oct 28th and a few vehicle descriptions," said Sandy Turner, Rosetto's neighbor.

Those who know him say he was never involved with the missing 23-year-old mother and that they've never seen her.

Rosetto, 35, denied being involved with her saying: "She was married to a Bolingbrook cop and could've made my life miserable. I wasn't risking it. And I knew Drew well enough to know to stay away from her."

He did say Peterson called him right before she vanished.

Rosetto, whose brother and friend dated Peterson before she was married, told the paper it was the first time he had heard from her in years.

Meanwhile, Rosetto is being bombarded by media and his neighbors say they're hearing from detectives.

Elizabeth Lopez, Scott Rosetto's neighbor, said authorities left a yellow legal piece of paper with her that has a number of who to get a hold of. "He actually has a girlfriend that he's been involved with for a while." She said she doesn't think Peterson and Rosetto are involved.

State police are not commenting on that part of the investigation.

The search for Stacy Peterson resumes Monday morning.

CBS 2's Rafael Romo and Katie McCall contributed to this report.
