Peterson Views Solanki Case As Vindication

Drew Peterson Has Been Saying Wife Left To Escape Marriage, Exactly As Anu Solanki Did

BOLINGBROOK, Ill. (CBS) ― The disappearance and reemergence of Anu Solanki has apparently given Drew Peterson a sense of vindication.

Solanki was the subject of a search that cost taxpayers $250,000 when she disappeared last week, only to return four days later and admit that she disappeared to escape a dissatisfying marriage.

Ever since Drew Peterson's wife Stacy, 23, disappeared on Oct. 28, he has insisted that she too disappeared to leave her marriage to him behind. But her family says she would never abandon her children, and the Illinois State Police have said they suspect Stacy Peterson is dead in a homicide, and they have named Drew as a suspect.

Drew Peterson says the Solanki case shows that what he says happened to his wife is possible.

"What do I make of it? People run off. People run off and come back, people run off and don't come back. I've been saying from the beginning she ran off; my wife Stacy was apparently tired of life; of living with me and the kids, and went off starting a new life somewhere. It's just another example of (how) this happens in life."

Peterson said of his wife's disappearance, "I'm sure it's all going to wash out, and when it does, I'm going to be famous for nothing."
