Drew Gets The Girl: 'The Devil Won This Round'

Peterson Appears In Snuggle-fest With Christina Raines On Today Show

NEW YORK (CBS) ― The father of Drew Peterson's new fiancée has called him the devil, but in a snuggle-fest with Christina Raines on national television, Peterson said "the devil actually won this round."

In an appearance on NBC's "Today" show, Peterson and Raines said they plan to get married, and Raines said she hoped it would be June or July.

Raines, 24, said she doesn't expect her family to come to the wedding. Her family is scared for her safety, and her father, Ernest Raines, has confronted Peterson repeatedly and appeared on the "Dr. Phil" show to vent his concerns. He has called Peterson the devil.

"It looks like the devil actually won this round," Peterson said with a laugh in the interview.

Peterson, a former Bolingbrook police officer, has been named a suspect in the 2007 disappearance of his fourth wife, Stacy. His third wife, Kathleen Savio, was found dead in a dry bathtub in 2004, and the death was later ruled a homicide. Peterson has denied any wrongdoing.

Raines says the 55-year-old Peterson has been kind and loving. They couple live in Peterson's Bolingbrook home where he also lived with Stacy.

Raines said she never believed Peterson was involved in his fourth wife's disappearance in October 2007.

"I felt bad for him; I thought she was, like, kidnapped, or something. That's it. I didn't think that he did anything to her," Raines said.

Peterson said he and his fiancée do not plan to have children together.

"I think we have enough children," Peterson said. "Between us we have eight, and a grandchild coming, so I think that's enough."

Raines didn't directly address comments she made earlier this month when she moved out of Peterson's home and called their engagement a publicity "stunt."
