Decapitated Rooster, Goat, Hawk Found In Oak Park
Police: Animal Carcasses May Be Tied To Santeria Religion
OAK PARK, Ill. (AP) ―
Police in near west suburban Oak Park say they found the bodies of three decapitated animals in a park this week.
Deputy Oak Park Police Chief Bob Scianna says a passer-by saw a man walk into Barrie Park, at Lombard Avenue and Garfield Street, Wednesday night with what appeared to be a dog carcass.
The witness flagged down a police officer, who, at the top of a sled hill, found the remains of a goat, a rooster and a hawk.
The hawk was found in a plastic bag that also held its head; the goat and rooster were found beside the bag, their heads nowhere to be seen.
Scianna says police believe the decapitations may be tied to the Santeria religion, which uses animal sacrifice.
