Small Rubbish Fire On CTA Tracks Extinguished
CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) ―
A small rubbish fire on CTA Red Line tracks prompted a five-ambulance response Monday afternoon in the Loop but was quickly extinguished.
An EMS Plan 1, which automatically sends five ambulances to the scene, was called for a rubbish fire on the tracks at 312 S. State St. at 2:55 p.m., according to Fire Media Affairs Asst. Director Eve Rodriguez.
Debris on the track caused a small fire which was extinguished very quickly, according to CTA spokeswoman Catherine Hosinski, who said there were no train delays due to the fire.
There were no reports of injuries and the fire was secured at 3:03 p.m., Rodriguez said.
The incident happened on the Red Line tracks heading north as the train approached the Jackson stop, Hosinski said.
