Multiple 'L' Lines To Be Rerouted This Weekend
ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. (STNG) ―
Construction projects will cause of reroute of CTA trains on multiple lines this weekend, as well as the closure of select stations on the Brown and Red Line.
On the Red Line, service will be rerouted from the subway to the elevated tracks in both directions between the Cermak-Chinatown and Fullerton stations from 9 p.m. Friday until 3 a.m. Monday, according to the CTA's Web site.
Rerouted trains will stop at the following elevated stations: Roosevelt/Wabash, Adams/Wabash, Madison/Wabash, Randolph/Wabash, State/Lake, Clark/Lake, Merchandise Mart, Chicago/Franklin, Armitage and Sedgwick, the CTA said. The Merchandise Mart station is available as an exit only via stairway Saturday from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. and Sunday from 12:50 a.m. to 7:10 a.m.
Additionally, bus shuttles will be available between select Red and Brown Line stations.
At the Wilson station, northbound trains will bypass the station because of work on the platform between 10:30 p.m. Friday and 4 a.m. Monday, the CTA said.
Northbound customers traveling to Wilson should instead exit at the Lawrence station and board a southbound train, the CTA said. Northbound customers boarding at the Wilson station must board a southbound train and exit at either the Sheridan or Addison stations to board a northbound train.
Southbound customers must board and exit trains from the auxiliary Purple Line Express platform.
At the Howard station, the east platform, where northbound customers normally board and exit trains, will be out of service between 8 p.m. Friday until 2 a.m. Monday because of construction work associated with the Howard Terminal Rehabilitation project, the CTA said. All Red, Purple and Yellow Line customers must board and exit trains from the west platform, where southbound customers normally board.
On the Brown Line, a single track will be in effect for southbound trains between the Addison and Southbound stations from 3 a.m. Saturday until 10 p.m. Sunday, the CTA said. Southbound Addison and Southport stations must board and exit trains from the northbound platform.
On the Blue Line, a single track will be in effect for southbound trains between the Grand and LaSalle stations from 10 p.m. Friday until 7 a.m. Saturday and from 2 a.m. to 7 a.m. Sunday, the CTA said. Southbound customers at the Clark/Lake, Washington, Monroe and Jackson stations must board and exit trains from the northbound side of the platform.
Additionally, a single track will be in effect for northbound trains between the Grand and Damen subway stations from 9 p.m. Saturday until 2 a.m. Sunday, the CTA said. Northbound customers at the Grand, Chicago and Division stations must board and exit trains from the southbound side of the platform.
Customers should allow extra travel time, the CTA said.
