Woman Hit By Ball At Crosstown Classic Game Sues
CHICAGO (STNG) ―
A woman is suing the Chicago White Sox, Cubs and Tribune Company, claiming a Sox employee allegedly threw a ball at her face while a group heckled the South Siders at a Crosstown Classic game this summer.
A woman, who was not named in the lawsuit, claims that during a Sox-Cubs game at Wrigley Field on June 20, she was "struck in the face with a baseball which was thrown by an unknown person, breaking her nose."
The "unknown person" was a White Sox coach or employee, the suit claims.
The suit, a petition for discovery, asks the Tribune Company and Chicago Cubs to release information from an alleged investigation that was conducted after the woman was struck.
The suit claims that the ball was thrown "intentionally" by a player or coach of the White Sox, reacting to a group of Cub fans heckling the team.
Officials investigated the incident after it happened and took witness statements, the suit said. The petition seeks the results of the investigation, including the names of witnesses and the person who allegedly threw the ball.
The suit asks for all photos, incident reports, emails, internal memos and police reports involving the incident, for the sake of determining who was responsible for throwing the ball and injuring the woman.
