9 Injured In 4-Car Crash On Near South Side
Victims In Serious And Critical Condition

Nine people were injured in this four-car crash and 23rd Street and Damen Avenue.

Nine people suffered serious injuries after an accident involving at least four cars on the Near South Side early Tuesday.
Nine people, including three children, were taken to area hospitals from a crash at Damen Avenue and 23rd Street. Seven were taken in critical condition and two others in serious condition and three of the victims are children, according to Fire Media Affairs spokesman Joseph Roccasalva.
About 2:30 a.m., four vehicles collided at the intersection and one of the vehicles rolled over, police News Affairs Officer David Banks said. An EMS Plan 1 response was called for the crash and crews remained on the scene at 4 a.m. investigating the cause of the accident.
The nine victims were taken to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County, Mount Sinai Hospital, Northwestern Memorial Hospital and Saint Anthony Hospital, Roccasalva said.
