New Accusations Against Craig Stebic Revealed
Lisa Stebic's Family Files Court Documents Citing Couple's Kids Have Been Exposed to Alcohol, Guns and Drugs
PLAINFIELD, Ill. (CBS) ―
New accusations are surfacing against Craig Stebic Friday.
His wife is missing and now her family says the children have been exposed to alcohol, drugs, even guns. CBS 2's chief correspondent Jay Levine reports on court documents filed Friday.
The search for Lisa Stebic is now in its second year. The Naperville mother of two disappeared a year ago April. Her husband Craig, already labeled a person of interest, is now being charged with trying to turn the couples' two children against their grandparents, Lawrence and Judith Ruttenberg, refusing to allow them to visit -- even returning their cards and gifts unopened.
"All we want is to see the children, speak with them, make sure they're OK," said Lisa Stebic's cousin Melanie Greenberg.
But the most troubling allegations in this bill of particulars filed in Will County court Friday afternoon, involve weapons, alcohol, and threats.
While 24 guns were taken from the Stebic home after Lisa disappeared, today's filing claims additional weapons were not seized.
And on one or more occasions, the couple's "
son had possession of a loaded gun without supervision...and that Stebic "loaded firearms for the children's use, while he was intoxicated..."
It says Stebic has also "...shown the children how to (make moonshine and wine at home), and has allowed them to taste the alcohol produced."
The Ruttenbergs also claim Stebic had threatened to kill them.
"Lisa's parents have not been allowed to see those children for almost three years," Greenberg said. "This court filing today is a part of that process to get visitation."
In fact, on the day Lisa Stebic disappeared, this court filing says, she told her own grandparents that Craig had been brainwashing the children.
Lisa's family says it was forced to make all this public and did so only reluctantly, after Stebic responded to their request for court-ordered visitation with a demand to know why they needed it.
CBS 2 tried to reach Craig Stebic's attorney Friday afternoon. So far, no response.
